About Us
Krithika Subramanian - MY JOURNEY
Born and raised in Chennai, India, my journey with dance began at a very young age. For over 30 years, I have immersed myself in the profound beauty of Indian classical dance, specializing in both Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi. This lifelong passion is not just an art form for me - it is a discipline, a way of life, and a pathway to connect with our tradition and culture.
My foundation and training under esteemed Gurus
Bharatanatyam: Learned under the guidance of Smt. Hemalatha Ramachandran and Dr. S. Divyasena in Chennai.
Abhinaya (Facial Expression): Received focused training from the legendary Smt. Kalanidhi Narayanan.
Kuchipudi: Trained under Sri Madhavapeddi Murthy.
Nattuvangam (Rhythm): Furthering my skills under Sri M. Balachander, Mridangam artist and a resident teacher at The Bhavan, London.
I hold a Post-Graduation in Bharatanatyam from the University of Madras, complemented by a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from Symbiosis University, Pune.
From Performance to Teaching: The Krithika School of Dance
My passion for teaching led to the founding of Krithika School of Dance in London. While I began offering independent classes in 2012, my teaching journey was briefly paused by other professional commitments. My enduring dedication to Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi, however, inspired me to fully recommit. I re-established and expanded the school in 2021, and now guide students (children and adults) both in my home country, India and in the UK. I have had the honour of performing for prestigious cultural organizations across India and the UK, both as a soloist and alongside my teachers. My journey also led me to curate performances and workshops for community events, charities, and temples, representing Indian arts and culture for the South Asian diaspora in London. I have been an examiner for the OFAAL UK dance exam board. I have also successfully completed a CPD certified ‘Child Protection for tutors’ course from NSPCC, UK. For 15 years, I have successfully balanced my artistic pursuits with a professional career in the private sector in India and the charitable sector in the UK. I worked as a Project Manager and as an Advisor delivering community-based projects and training programmes, engaging with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures in East London. Having recently relocated back to India, I now teach students in Coimbatore and continue to guide students in the UK via online sessions.
